Line And Load Wiring Diagram
Loosen the silver and brass terminal screws on the line side of the outlet.
Line and load wiring diagram. Refer to the diagram above about wiring gfci receptacles for additional help. At the second device the line is the power source coming in from the first device. This leaves the outlet unprotected. If the two loads are connected in series then the voltage between l1 and l2 must divide across both loads when s1 is closed.
Select either image to enlarge. However only 2 of them are fed from the load side of the gfci. The result is that neither device receives the entire 120 v necessary for proper operation. 14 one load per line two loads must not be connected in series on one line of a line diagram.
Ground fault circuit. Gfci load wiring diagram. The other outlet is pigtailed from the line side of the gfci. Protected receptacle s will be connected to the gfci load side as shown below.
In the diagram below you have a gfci that feeds 3 outlets. The above switch wiring diagram shows a different wire color coding than what is used in the usa. Line and load will be clearly labeled on the back of the gfci outlet and often times the load side will be covered with a piece of tape. Power is connected to the gfci line side.
With the first device the line is the wire running from the service panel to the device and the load is the wire running from the first device to the second device downstream on the circuit. The load is the wire going out to the third device on the circuit and so on.
